Ron Nelson
Ron is a founding member of Front Range Law. His emphasis is on estate and business planning, taxation, real estate, and trusts and estate administration.
Ron was born and raised in Montana. He received a B.A. degree in Political Science and Economics from Bethel College, Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1983 and received his law degree from the University of Montana School of Law with high honors in 1986. While attending the University of Montana School of Law, Ron was a member of the Montana Law Review and participated in National Appellate Moot Court. Following his graduation from law school, Ron served a one-year clerkship for the Hon. William J. Jameson, then a Senior Retired United States District Judge for the District of Montana. Due to Judge Jameson's Senior Retired status, Ron's clerkship involved primarily appellate work assisting Judge Jameson with matters before the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and District of Columbia Circuits as well as the Temporary Emergency Court of Appeals.
Ron began practicing law in 1987 following the completion of his clerkship with Judge Jameson. He is a member of the State Bar of Montana and the Cascade County Bar Association. He was a member of the Montana State Bar Continuing Legal Education Institute, serving as its president in 1997. He has coordinated and moderated several continuing legal education programs primarily in the area of taxation and transactional practice.
Ron is very active in a variety of civic and charitable causes, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Great Falls Development Authority, Great Falls Rescue Mission, Cascade County Law Clinic, Rivers Edge Trail Foundation, Great Falls Symphony Association, Foothills Community Christian School, Great Falls Baseball Foundation, Montana Community Foundation, the local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and his church. Ron also serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the University of Montana College of Education. His wife, Becky, is also very involved in civic organizations serving on the boards of the River's Edge Trail Foundation, Montana FFA Foundation and the Montana 4H Foundation. Ron and Becky have served as Co-Chairs of the “The Russell”, a western art exhibition and sale to benefit the C.M. Russell Museum. Ron and Becky have two children, a son, Connor, and a daughter, Allie. Their family enjoys most of the outdoor recreation Montana has to offer including skiing, backpacking, bicycling, rafting and fishing. They are also involved in raising cattle and showing 4H steers.
